Akanksha Chamola Reveals Divorce Reason, Says Gaurav Khanna Wanted to Have Kids

Mumbai: Actress Akanksha Chamola, who predominantly works in television, has shared another major revelation about her marriage with actor Gaurav Khanna, saying their differing views on having children eventually led to their decision to divorce.

Speaking in the latest episode of the streaming reality show ‘Lock Upp Season 2’, Akanksha revealed that she never developed maternal instincts, while Gaurav’s desire to become a father grew with time.

Akanksha Opens Up About Parenthood Differences

She said, “When we were married, I never had a maternal instinct, but I was open to discovering it. It was never shut down, but gradually I realized I’m not meant for it. And he was okay with it, but I guess with time, that shifted. Now he wants to have kids, and I can’t give him that.”

Akanksha added that she had made her position clear to Gaurav long ago and even told him he was free to leave the marriage if becoming a parent was important to him.

She further said, “I told him then that I’m not going to do it. So we had a discussion where I told him, ‘You want to leave me, you can leave me. Fair enough on your part’. Let’s be very honest, 99% get married because you want to have kids and you want to have a big family. He’s not wrong on that.”

The actress also said that after Gaurav’s stint on ‘Bigg Boss 19’, she realised that he wanted fatherhood even more, while she remained committed to living a child-free life.

Couple Living Separately for a Year

Earlier on the same show, Akanksha disclosed that she and Gaurav have been living separately for the past year and have mutually decided to end their marriage.

“There is nothing bad between Gaurav and me. We still talk to each other, but we feel that we are not right for each other as partners because we both want different things in life,” she said.

She also revealed that both families had advised them to spend some time apart, adding that their relationship had changed after Gaurav participated in ‘Bigg Boss 19’.

What Led to Akanksha and Gaurav’s Divorce?

Akanksha Chamola and Gaurav Khanna have been married for several years. During ‘Lock Upp Season 2’, Akanksha confirmed that the couple has been living separately for the past year and is proceeding with a mutual divorce. She said the primary reason behind their separation was their differing views on parenthood—while Gaurav wanted to have children, Akanksha chose to remain child-free. She also clarified that there is no bitterness between them and that they continue to remain on cordial terms despite ending their marriage.
