Alia Bhatt remembers late father-in-law Rishi Kapoor on his birth anniversary

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt marked the birth anniversary of her late father-in-law, veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, with a heartfelt social media post.

On Thursday, Alia reposted a throwback video shared by her mother-in-law Neetu Kapoor on Instagram Stories. The clip was from the show Khullam Khulla – Live with Rishi Kapoor, hosted by the late actor, where he shared anecdotes from his professional journey and film industry experiences.

The video featured appearances by his brother Randhir Kapoor, son Ranbir Kapoor, daughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, sister Reema Jain, filmmaker Ramesh Sippy, and veteran actor Jeetendra.

Alia captioned the video: “Always & forever. Miss you, happy birthday.”

A Glimpse into Rishi Kapoor’s Charisma

In the shared clip, Rishi Kapoor was seen in his trademark style — entertaining the audience, making them laugh, and narrating unheard stories from his career.

Neetu and Rishi Kapoor tied the knot in 1980. In 2017, Rishi released his autobiography Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored, co-authored with Meena Iyer.

Battle with Illness and Legacy

Diagnosed with leukemia in 2018, Rishi Kapoor travelled to New York City for treatment. After a year of successful recovery, he returned to India, but his health deteriorated again. On April 29, 2020, he was admitted to Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai with breathing issues and passed away the next day, April 30, due to a recurrence of leukemia — just a day after the passing of legendary actor Irrfan Khan.

Recent Family Moments

Recently, on August 31, Neetu Kapoor and her son Ranbir were seen performing aarti during Ganpati Visarjan before bidding farewell to Lord Ganesha. Ranbir wore a blue kurta with white pajama, while Neetu opted for a white salwar suit.

On the professional front, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor are set to reunite on screen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film Love and War.
