Ambala: Encounter between Police and Criminals; Two Accused of Robbing Elderly Woman Arrested

Late Wednesday evening, the police and the CIA (Crime Investigation Agency) of Naraingarh engaged in an encounter with the miscreants who, on May 28, had barged into an elderly woman’s home in Barara’s Karnal Colony in broad daylight to commit robbery and snatching. During this encounter, which took place near the Barara flyover (railway bridge), two of the miscreants sustained gunshot wounds to their legs during the police’s retaliatory firing.

The police apprehended both individuals on the spot and recovered two country-made pistols from their possession. Meanwhile, the mastermind behind this entire crime—their third accomplice—remains at large and outside police custody.

The CIA Naraingarh had received a tip-off that the accused individuals—who had broken into the home of 70-year-old Vidya Devi on May 28 to rob her of gold earrings and a ring—were still roaming the area and were plotting to execute another crime. Acting on this intelligence, the CIA and the police team set up a blockade and cordoned off the area near the Barara railway bridge.

Realizing they were surrounded by the police, the miscreants attempted to flee and tried to open fire on the police team. Fortunately, the pistols wielded by the miscreants failed to discharge. Subsequently, during the retaliatory firing by the police, two of the accused were shot in the legs, causing them to fall to the ground, injured.

Both of the apprehended accused hail from Uttar Pradesh. One has been identified as Udham Singh (28) and the other as Ritik (19). The police are currently conducting continuous raids in search of their third absconding accomplice and the mastermind, Dilip Singh.
