Hyderabad: Home Minister Amit Shah lashed out at the Congress and Rahul Gandhi on Monday, saying that the Opposition party was trying to save Bangladeshi infiltrators by opposing the nationwide Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
Speaking to a gathering after the BJP’s ‘Loktantra Bachao’ padyatra in Hyderabad, Shah said that only Indians should vote and added that the BJP would remove all names of infiltrators from the voter list.
He took a dig at Rahul Gandhi for organising the INDIA bloc’s rally in Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on Sunday, calling it a programme to “save the infiltrators”.
“The Congress wants to win elections through malpractice. If someone is having 2 votes then why not cancel one of their votes?” Shah retorted.
Shah claimed that there were three crore votes of people who do not even exist and said that these were votes of Bangladeshi infiltrators.
Shah takes swipe at Rahul Gandhi over SIR
Shah said the Centre is prepared to hold a special session of Parliament but claimed that Rahul Gandhi would not attend as he does not want the house to operate.
“The Congress is trying to create chaos in the country. If the Parliament is held then Gandhi will lose the debate with PM Narendra Modi,” he added.
He said the Congress was like a patient on ventilator and added that it cannot compete with PM Modi politically. He also remarked that Gandhi would lose to the BJP’s Telangana Yuva Morcha president.
Shah took a jab at the Congress over Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
“If the EVMs are faulty how did your Revanth Reddy become CM? How did you form the government in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh?” he asked Rahul ji.
“When they win they accept the people’s mandate but when they lose they blame EVMs.”
Shah accused the Congress of indulging in scams, scandals and corruption to the tune of Rs 12 lakh crore during their 10-year rule.
Amit Shah takes jabs at Revanth Reddy, Owaisi and BRS
Shah also took a dig at Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for opposing the SIR drive and claimed that his efforts would not work.
He accused him of making Telangana an “ATM machine” for the Congress. He also targeted AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), claiming that they have not been able to stop corruption in the state.
Shah said not a single promise made by the Congress in their six guarantee in Telangana was fulfilled.
Shah emphasises deadline for drug free India
Shah also spoke about the Centre’s fight against terrorism and surgical strikes, airstrikes and Operation Sindoor.
“He (PM Narendra Modi) has promised to wipe out terrorism. Have we done anything in this regard?” he asked.
He also reiterated Centre’s goal of making India drug-free by December 31, 2029.
“We once again say that we will wipe out drugs from this country by December 31, 2029 and make it a drug free nation.” he said.
The BJP’s padyatra in Hyderabad was organised under the ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ campaign to counter protests by the INDIA bloc over the SIR drive and allegations of malpractice in electoral rolls.
