Gandhinagar: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate a newly developed vegetable sub-yard at the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Dahegam, Gujarat, on Monday. The event is being held as part of the Dahegam APMC’s Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, highlighting agricultural marketing, cooperative development and farmers’ welfare.

Event to Promote Agricultural Marketing and Farmers’ Welfare

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Dahegam APMC Chairman Sumeru Amin, cooperative leaders, APMC members and other dignitaries are expected to attend the programme.

According to the Ministry of Cooperation, the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” (Prosperity through Cooperation), aimed at strengthening the cooperative sector, improving farmers’ incomes, modernising agricultural marketing infrastructure and boosting the rural economy.

During the event, Amit Shah will formally inaugurate the new vegetable sub-yard, which has been developed to enhance agricultural marketing facilities for farmers in the region.

Tree Plantation and Amrit Mahotsav Activities

As part of the programme, the Union Minister will plant a sapling under the Centre’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, encouraging citizens to plant a tree in honour of their mothers.

He will also release a commemorative publication marking the Amrit Mahotsav of Dahegam APMC and interact with members of the APMC Board.

Agricultural Produce Market Committees (APMCs) function as regulated marketplaces where farmers sell their produce through a transparent trading system that facilitates fair price discovery and provides essential market infrastructure. In Gujarat, APMCs play a significant role in agricultural marketing and the state’s cooperative ecosystem.

Shah to Inaugurate INTERPOL Digital Forensics Meeting

Before attending the Dahegam programme, Amit Shah will inaugurate the 11th INTERPOL Digital Forensics Expert Group (DFEG) Meeting at the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Gandhinagar.

The international event will bring together delegates from 47 countries and senior law enforcement officials. Shah will also inaugurate three Centres of Excellence, Asia’s first Cyber Forensic Investigation Van, and an exhibition showcasing advanced digital forensics and cybersecurity technologies.
