Jalandhar: An ammonia gas leak at the Metro Milk Products factory in the city’s Surgical Complex triggered a major rescue operation on Monday evening. Around 30 workers were trapped inside when the leak occurred.
The incident was reported at 5:15 PM, following which fire brigade teams rushed to the spot.

Rescue personnel broke through a wall to evacuate those inside, who were immediately shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Authorities have deployed machines to contain the gas and are continuously monitoring the situation. Police have urged residents of the surrounding area to vacate their homes and move to safer locations.
Officials from the Verka Milk Plant also joined the rescue efforts. The district administration said all necessary medical and emergency measures have been put in place.
