Amritpal in Ajnala Case, Remand Ends, VC Hearing Today

Amritpal Singh, MP from Khadoor Sahib in Punjab, will be presented again today in Ajnala court via video conferencing. Last time, he had received a two-day police remand, which has now ended. This information was provided by advocate Karamveer Singh, who is legally representing his case.

It is noteworthy that a special team of Punjab Police reached Dibrugarh Central Jail in Assam on April 21, where Amritpal Singh was held under the National Security Act (NSA). His detention under the NSA ended on April 22, after which the police intensified action in the old case.

Amritpal Singh’s lawyer, Advocate Rituraj Singh, had earlier stated that the NSA detention has ended, but legal proceedings under FIR number 39 are ongoing. Several serious charges, including section 307, have been registered in this case. According to him, other associates involved in this case have already been presented in court.

It is noteworthy that Amritpal was arrested in April 2023 from Rode village in Moga. Earlier, in February 2023, there was a major controversy at the Ajnala police station when Amritpal, along with his supporters, broke barricades and entered the station. During this time, clashes also occurred between the police and supporters, which were reported to be aimed at freeing an arrested associate.

In this case, serious charges including attempted murder, attack on government employees, criminal conspiracy, and rioting have been filed against a total of 41 people including Amritpal Singh. According to the police, Amritpal is the main accused in this case.
