Amritsar: In a major breakthrough, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police have dismantled a cross-border illegal arms module. Five accused and one juvenile have been arrested, and five sophisticated pistols, 34 live cartridges, and a sharp weapon were recovered from their possession.

The recovered firearms include a Glock 9mm, PX5 .30 Bore, Taurus 9mm, Gretta 9mm (Made in Pakistan), and one .30 Bore. These weapons were reportedly sourced from Pakistan and distributed locally through an organized network.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the arrested individuals were in regular contact with Pakistan-based arms smugglers via social media. They coordinated arms consignments and managed distribution across multiple areas in Punjab.

An FIR has been registered under the Arms Act at PS Maqboolpura, Amritsar. Police officials stated that further investigation is underway to trace forward and backward linkages, with the goal of dismantling the entire smuggling network.
