Cross-Border Arms Smuggling Network Busted in Amritsar, Four Arrested

The Amritsar Commissionerate Police achieved a major success by busting a cross-border arms trafficking module. In this operation, the police arrested four accused and recovered a total of seven state-of-the-art pistols from their possession. The recovered weapons include two Glock 9mm pistols (manufactured in Austria), four .30 bore pistols (manufactured in China), and one additional .30 bore pistol.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested accused were in contact with traffickers based in Pakistan through social media platforms. These individuals were involved in obtaining illegal consignments of weapons and delivering them to criminal elements in Punjab. This network was operating in an organized manner, with the aim of promoting crime in the state.

In this matter, an FIR has been registered at the Cantonment police station, Amritsar under the Arms Act. The police investigation is ongoing to trace the connections of the entire network further. Along with this, efforts to identify other involved individuals have also been intensified.

Punjab’s DGP Gaurav Yadav has clarified that their policy against illegal weapons, cross-border smuggling, and organized crime in the state is completely zero-tolerance. The police say that strict action will continue continuously to root out such networks, so that law and order in the state can be strengthened and effective control over crime can be ensured.
