Amritsar: The Counter Intelligence unit of Punjab Police in Amritsar has busted a cross-border narcotics smuggling module, apprehending three key operatives and recovering 17 kg of heroin, officials said.
According to Punjab Police, the operation was carried out by Counter Intelligence, Amritsar, as part of its ongoing action against cross-border drug smuggling and organised criminal networks operating in the state.

Three Operatives Held, 17 Kg Heroin Recovered
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the three accused were allegedly operating in coordination with cross-border smugglers and were receiving heroin consignments for further distribution, Punjab Police said.
The recovery of 17 kg of heroin is being treated as a significant seizure in the case. Investigators are now working to establish the complete network behind the alleged smuggling operation, including its cross-border connections and intended supply channels.
The identities of the arrested operatives and further details about the seizure were not immediately disclosed by the police.
Investigation Underway To Trace Wider Network
An FIR has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) police station in Amritsar.
Police said further investigation is underway to establish the forward and backward linkages of the module, identify other people allegedly involved and dismantle the wider cross-border narcotics smuggling network.
The Counter Intelligence unit is also examining the source of the heroin consignments and the intended recipients as investigators work to map the alleged supply chain.
Punjab Police said it remains committed to maintaining strict vigil against cross-border smuggling and taking action against drug trafficking and organised criminal networks.
