Family Conspiracy Behind Amritsar Firing Outside Woman Councillor’s House, Police Arrest Five

Amritsar: A major revelation has emerged in the recent firing incident reported from the Faizpura, Amritsar area. Investigations by the Punjab Police have revealed that the shooting, initially believed to be a law and order issue, was actually part of a carefully planned conspiracy.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on March 7, 2026, when police received information about gunfire outside the residence of a woman councillor in the Faizpura outpost area under the jurisdiction of the Majitha Road Police Station.

Following the incident, the matter gained significant attention in social media, raising concerns about law and order in Punjab.

Initial Complaint Cited Personal Enmity

According to the initial complaint, the councillor’s husband Inderjit Singh alleged that the attack was linked to a family dispute.

He told police that his niece had entered into a love marriage, which had led to hostility with certain individuals. The complaint claimed that those individuals had opened fire outside their residence.

Investigation Exposes Planned Plot

However, a detailed investigation revealed a completely different story.

Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, Commissioner of Police in Amritsar, said the police analysed CCTV footage and technical evidence while probing the case.

During the investigation, police discovered that the firing incident had been staged by members of the family along with some relatives.

According to police, the objective of the conspiracy was to influence ongoing court proceedings related to the love marriage case.

Five Accused Arrested, One Still Absconding

Police have arrested five accused in connection with the conspiracy. They have been identified as Danish, Preetpal Singh, Vishu, Akash Sohta, and Manav.

Another accused, Akhil, is currently absconding, and police teams are conducting raids to trace him.

Investigators have also recovered the weapon used in the firing during the operation.

One Person Falsely Implicated, Police Say

Police Commissioner Bhullar also stated that one person had been falsely implicated in the case and will be released after the investigation.

All the arrested accused are currently on police remand, and authorities said the case is being thoroughly investigated to uncover all aspects of the conspiracy.
