Amritsar: The district administration today demolished an illegally constructed property in Sandhu Colony, 88 Foot Road (under Police Station Sadar) that officials say was built with proceeds from drug trafficking.

The action, carried out by a joint administration-police team with bulldozers, followed cases registered under the NDPS Act. A heavy police deployment secured the area during the operation.

Family Accused of Running Drug Network
Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar identified the property owner as Ranjit Singh alias Rana, who — according to police — was involved in the drug trade along with his two sons, Harpreet Singh alias Happy and Gurpratap Singh, and daughter-in-law Priyanka.

Authorities say the house was constructed using illicit funds from narcotics activities.

FIRs, DDRs and Custody Status
Multiple criminal entries have been registered against the family:

• Ranjit Singh — 5 FIRs and 1 DDR.

• Harpreet Singh — 7 FIRs and 3 DDRs.

• Gurpratap Singh — 2 FIRs and 1 DDR.

• Priyanka — 1 FIR.
  All three male accused are currently in jail, while Priyanka is in custody.

Part of Broader Anti-Drug Campaign
Commissioner Bhullar said the demolition is part of an ongoing campaign to seize and destroy assets acquired through the drug trade, signalling that “not a single illegal drug-related asset will remain.”

The administration reiterated its goal of making Amritsar a drug-free city and warned that similar action will be taken against other illegal properties linked to narcotics.
