Amritsar-Katra Vande Bharat Express to Resume Service After Seven Months with Revised Route

Amritsar: The Amritsar-Katra Vande Bharat Express is resuming service after nearly seven months. Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu will flag off the train today at a ceremony at Amritsar Railway Station.

Train Relaunched after 7 months

This train has operated previously, but is being relaunched due to a change in route.

Now this train will reach Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra directly via Batala, Gurdaspur and Pathankot instead of Beas and Jalandhar. According to the new time table, train number 26405 will leave from Amritsar at 4:40 pm.

It will reach Batala at 5:18 pm, Gurdaspur at 5:58 pm, Pathankot at 6:32 pm and Jammu Tawi at 8:03 pm and will reach Katra at 9:45 pm. Whereas, train number 26406 will leave from Katra at 6:40 am and will reach Amritsar railway station at 11:40 am.

Schedule Revised, Train will now operate on Saturdays

According to the railway administration, this train previously did not operate on Tuesdays, but under the new schedule, it will now operate on Saturdays. Passengers will be able to avail of this facility on the remaining six days of the week.

It is noteworthy that this train’s operation was discontinued on November 25, 2025, due to bridge construction work between Chakra Rakhwal in Jammu and Madhopur in Punjab. Now, its resumption will provide great relief to pilgrims and other travelers going to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi.
