National Lok Adalat to Be Held in Amritsar on December 12–13, Preparations Reviewed

Amritsar: Under the leadership of the Punjab State Legal Services Authority and Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the National Lok Adalat will be held in Amritsar on December 12 and 13, 2025. The event will be supervised by District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Amritsar, Jatinder Kaur.

Judge Amardeep Singh reviews preparations

Prior to the Lok Adalat, Judge Amardeep Singh held a meeting with district police officers, municipal officers, and representatives from various departments. He provided the necessary instructions to ensure smooth and effective functioning. This time, a significant number of cases have been listed for conciliation and settlement.

Objective: Quick settlement through mutual agreement

Officials reported that thousands of cases are being referred to the Lok Adalat for resolution. Departments, including the police, district administration, electricity board, and other agencies, have been asked to contribute by referring as many cases as possible for resolution.

Campaigns have been launched to educate the public that the primary purpose of Lok Adalat is to resolve disputes through mutual consent, reducing time, expense, and stress for both parties. Except for serious criminal cases, almost all other disputes can be brought to the Lok Adalat.

Pending and New Cases Eligible for Lok Adalat

Cases already pending in the court can be referred to the Lok Adalat by submitting an application to the relevant judge. Disputes not pending in any court can also be brought to the Lok Adalat by submitting a request directly to the Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority.
