Online Traffic Fines Soon in Amritsar: 1300 CCTV Cameras to Monitor Violations, Police Issue Warning

Strict action will now be taken against those violating traffic rules in Amritsar. An online challan system is soon going to be introduced in the city. Under this, traffic rule violators will be monitored through approximately 1300 CCTV cameras installed across the city. Meanwhile, online challans will be automatically issued for violating the rules.

Giving information regarding this, ADC (Traffic In-charge) Aman Deep Kaur stated that this system will be fully implemented in the coming days. She clarified that at traffic signals; vehicle drivers will have to stop their vehicles behind the zebra line and the stop line.

The challan process will be fully automated

If any vehicle driver crosses the stop line or parks their vehicle on the zebra crossing, an online challan will also be issued for them. Nearly 1300 CCTV cameras at intersections are capable of reading vehicle numbers from afar and identifying rule violations, which will make the challan process completely automated.
