Amritsar Police Busts Pakistan-Linked Drug Smuggling Gang: Heroin, Pistols recovered

Amritsar, Sep 4: Amritsar Commissionerate Police has conducted a major operation based on intelligence information and has caught a cross border smuggling gang. Drugs, weapons and drug money have also been seized from this smuggling gang linked to Pakistan.

According to DGP Gaurav Yadav, the names of the arrested accused are Harpreet Singh, Gurpal Singh and Ranjodh Singh. Harpreet and Gurpal had earlier visited Malaysia and from there they came in contact with Pakistani smugglers. On their information, the police recovered 2.02 kg heroin and 2 .30 bore pistols.

The accused was also arrested with a Glock pistol

Two more pistols (including a Glock 9MM) and drug money worth Rs 3.5 lakh were recovered from Ranjodh Singh. This amount was to be sent abroad through hawala channels.

Police said that this gang was active in the border areas of Punjab and was constantly importing drugs and weapons from Pakistan and supplying them in Punjab. Preliminary investigation has revealed that many other members of the gang are also connected with this network.

Case registered and investigation started

A case has been registered in this matter at Gate Hakiman police station. Police officials say that the entire network will be exposed in further investigation and links related to Pakistan will also be investigated. Soon some more arrests may also be made in this case.
