Amritsar Police Bust Two Cross-Border Smuggling Networks; 7 Accused Arrested With Illegal Weapons, Heroin

Amritsar: The Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted two alleged cross-border smuggling networks and arrested seven accused in connection with the illegal supply of narcotics and weapons.

Police said the operation led to the recovery of 10 illegal pistols, 1.054 kg of heroin, five live cartridges and a drone. The investigation has been intensified to identify other individuals allegedly linked to the networks.

Seven Arrested, Weapons and Heroin Seized

According to the police, the seven accused were allegedly involved in the supply of illegal weapons and heroin. The recoveries include 10 pistols, five live cartridges and a drone, along with 1.054 kg of heroin.

Following the arrests and seizures, investigators are probing the wider network and the possible involvement of other people in the smuggling operation.

Police Probe Links With Overseas Smugglers

Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested accused were allegedly in contact with smugglers based abroad.

Police suspect that the supply of illegal weapons and heroin from across the international border was being coordinated through these overseas handlers.

Based on the interrogation of the accused, investigators are gathering details about the network’s operations, supply chain and other individuals allegedly involved.

FIRs Registered at Two Police Stations

Separate FIRs have been registered at the Cantonment and D-Division police stations in Amritsar in connection with the case.

Police officials said the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are examining the source of the recovered weapons and heroin, their intended destinations and the possible involvement of other members of the alleged smuggling network.
