Amritsar Police bust Drug-Arms smuggling modules; 10 arrested with over 5.4 Kg heroin

In a major breakthrough, Amritsar Commissionerate Police busted two organised cross-border drug and illegal arms smuggling modules. The preliminary information has been shared by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav.

Police apprehended a total of 10 accused and recovered 5.438 Kg Heroin. Police also recovered  3 sophisticated pistols (One Glock 9mm, One Zigana 9mm, & One .32 bore), 34 live cartridges, along with ₹4500 drug money.

Preliminary investigation by police revealed that the arrested accused were in contact with Pak-based smugglers through social media platforms. Heroin and illegal weapons were being smuggled into Indian territory and further distributed across different areas through a well-organised network.

Multiple FIRs have been registered under the NDPS Act and Arms Act. Further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages and dismantle the entire network.

DGP Yadav assured that the Punjab Police remains committed to a zero-tolerance policy against drugs and illegal arms.
