Amritsar, Sep 3: The Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted an illegal arms supply network and arrested two accused, recovering eight illegal 30 bore pistols and 103 live cartridges, Punjab DGP said.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused were allegedly in contact with foreign-based smugglers through social media applications. They were allegedly involved in receiving consignments of illegal foreign-made weapons and supplying them to criminal elements in Punjab.
Police Probing Cross-Border Links
An FIR has been registered at Police Station Islamabad in Amritsar.
Police are now investigating the backward and forward linkages of the network and verifying the alleged cross-border connections. Efforts are also underway to identify other persons associated with the illegal arms supply chain.
The Punjab Police said it remains committed to dismantling illegal arms networks and maintaining strict vigil against cross-border smuggling.
