Amritsar Police Bust Two ISI-Backed Cross-Border Terror Modules, nine arrested; petrol bombs recovered

The Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted a terror module operating with the support of Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI. A total of nine accused, including four minors, were arrested during this operation. Three illegal pistols, nine live cartridges, and four petrol-filled bottles intended for use as bombs were recovered from their possession.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested individuals were in contact with ISI handlers based abroad and were acting under their instructions. According to the police, these youths were being groomed for terrorist activities. They had been assigned tasks such as conducting reconnaissance of security installations, procuring illegal weapons, and disrupting peace and law and order in Punjab.

CCTV cameras installed for surveillance near railway tracks

Another shocking revelation emerged during the investigation: the accused had installed CCTV cameras near railway tracks for surveillance purposes. Footage recorded by these cameras was allegedly being sent to foreign ISI handlers to monitor sensitive activities.

Identification of other network members

Separate FIRs have been registered at the Mohkampura, Airport, and C-Division police stations in Amritsar. The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the entire network. Officials state that other members of the network are being identified. Additionally, investigations are underway regarding their forward and backward linkages, sources of funding, and financial aid received from abroad.

The police are also trying to determine if the arrested individuals were involved in any other terror plots or incidents. The Amritsar Commissionerate Police has asserted that no element compromising state security will be spared.

CCTV found on OHE pole near railway track

It is noteworthy that about a month ago, a CCTV camera was discovered on an OHE (Overhead Electrification) pole along the Amritsar-Delhi railway track. A solar panel had also been installed there to power the camera. During the investigation, the police found a SIM card in the camera’s SIM slot that was registered in Gurdev’s name. Based on this, the police arrested Gurdev.
