Amritsar: Police constable murdered following domestic dispute

A police constable has been murdered following a domestic dispute in Jagdev Kalan village, in the Rajasansi area of ​​Amritsar. It is alleged that relatives attacked the constable’s home and assaulted him with iron rods and sticks. The seriously injured constable was being taken to the hospital by his family for treatment, but he died on the way. Tension has gripped the village following the incident.

According to reports, Jagjit Singh, a resident of Jagdev Kalan, was a constable in the Punjab Police and was posted as a security guard for a DSP in Gurdaspur. He returned home from duty on Friday evening. Some people arrived at his house regarding an old domestic dispute, a physical altercation broke out.

The deceased’s niece, Jatinder Kaur, stated that Balraj Singh, a resident of the village, was a relative and had been in a dispute with him for some time. The previous day, he arrived at the house in a vehicle with several people. It is alleged that they attacked Jagjit Singh and other family members. During the altercation, Jagjit Singh was struck on the head by an iron rod, leaving him seriously injured.

After the incident, the attackers left the scene. The family was taking the injured Jagjit Singh to Amritsar, but he died on the way. Upon receiving information, police arrived at the scene and assessed the situation. Police officials say that based on the family’s statement, a case has been registered against the accused, and further action is being taken. The body has been sent to the hospital for a post-mortem examination.
