Amritsar Police Foil Cross-Border Terror Conspiracy, One Arrested

Amritsar: The Amritsar Commissionerate Police have foiled an alleged cross-border terror conspiracy with the arrest of one accused and the recovery of a hand grenade, a 9mm Glock pistol and four live cartridges, officials said on Tuesday.

Accused allegedly in touch with ISI handlers

According to the preliminary investigation, the accused was allegedly in contact with cross-border handlers linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) through Instagram. Police said the suspect was allegedly being directed to target police establishments and public places with the aim of disturbing peace and public order.

FIR registered, investigation underway

An FIR has been registered at the Cantonment Police Station in Amritsar under relevant sections of the law. Investigators are now working to uncover the entire network and identify other associates, facilitators and handlers connected to the alleged conspiracy.

Police intensify crackdown

Punjab Police said the operation is part of its ongoing drive against cross-border terror networks. Officials added that efforts are underway to identify the source of the recovered weapons and expose the full extent of the alleged terror module.

Police said further investigation is in progress, and more arrests or recoveries may be made as the probe advances.
