In a major breakthrough against cyber-terror and online fraud threats, Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted an interstate gang involved in sending mass bomb threat emails to schools and other sensitive institutions across multiple states.

Police arrested the key accused from West Bengal and dismantled the digital infrastructure allegedly being used to spread panic and disrupt public peace and national security.

Multiple FIRs Registered Under BNS Sections

The action was taken in connection with several cases registered at Cyber Crime Police Station, Amritsar, including:

• FIR No. 04 dated 14-01-2026
• FIR No. 06 dated 26-01-2026
• FIR No. 09 dated 01-02-2026
• FIR No. 14 dated 28-02-2026

All cases were registered under Sections 113(2), 113(3), 113(5), 197 and 61 of the BNS.

Accused Tracked Through Digital Trail

Following extensive technical analysis and digital tracking, police traced the accused to West Bengal and nominated him in the ongoing investigations. Officials revealed that the accused had also been named by Gujarat Police in a similar case.

Investigators confirmed that multiple email accounts linked to the accused were used to send threatening emails in Amritsar and several other parts of the country.

Gmail Accounts Sold Through Facebook Groups

During the investigation, police discovered that the accused was allegedly involved in buying and selling email accounts through various Facebook groups.

Officials said nearly 300 Gmail accounts were purchased online from unidentified individuals. Further investigation revealed that 219 Gmail accounts were later sold via WhatsApp to a person based in Bangladesh.

Transactions for purchasing and selling these accounts were reportedly conducted using USDT cryptocurrency.

Pakistan Link Under Investigation

Police further revealed that the email accounts were later supplied to unidentified individuals based in Pakistan, who allegedly used them to send bomb threat emails and conduct other illegal cyber activities.

Authorities said the Bangladesh connection is also being investigated by relevant agencies.

Major Digital Recovery Made By Police

During the operation, police recovered:

• 03 CPUs
• 05 computer hard disks
• 03 mobile phones
• 01 internet router
• More than 300 Gmail IDs with passwords and recovery details
• 15 Hotmail accounts

Arrested Accused Identified

The arrested accused has been identified as:

1. Sourav Biswas alias Michael, resident of West Bengal.

Police said the accused is 30 years old, studied till Class 12, and worked as a graphic designer.
