Amritsar: In a major breakthrough, the Commissionerate Police Amritsar has busted an illegal arms supply network and arrested three accused, recovering two AK-47 rifles, three magazines and 50 live cartridges from their possession.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused were in contact with a foreign-based arms smuggler and were allegedly involved in supplying illegal weapons to criminal elements in Punjab.
Foreign-Based Smuggling Link Under Probe
An FIR has been registered at Police Station Chheharta in Amritsar. Further investigation is underway to identify other persons involved in the network, establish its backward and forward linkages, verify the foreign-based smuggling connection and uncover the wider illegal arms supply network.
