Amritsar: In a major action against illegal arms, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police arrested two accused persons and recovered seven sophisticated pistols during an intelligence-based operation.

Sophisticated Foreign Pistols Recovered

Police recovered seven pistols, including Glock, Beretta, Zigana and .30 bore weapons. These weapons are considered highly dangerous and are often used in organised crime.

Links to Pakistan-Based Smugglers

During initial questioning, police found that the arrested accused were in direct contact with smugglers based in Pakistan. They were allegedly involved in smuggling illegal weapons across the border into India.

An FIR has been registered at Police Station Cantonment, Amritsar, under the Arms Act. Police have started a detailed investigation.

Further Investigation Underway

Police said they are probing both forward and backward links to find out who supplied the weapons and who was supposed to receive them.

Punjab Police said they remain committed to a zero-tolerance approach against illegal arms and organised crime, and such operations will continue.
