Amritsar police seize 51.5 kg of heroin; Two smugglers arrested

In a major breakthrough, Amritsar Rural Police busted a cross-border narco-smuggling network. Police apprehended two operatives and recovered a massive consignment of narcotics. The information has been shared by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on an X post.

As per information, Amritsar police recovered 51.5 Kg heroin packed in total of 103 packets.

Preliminary investigation by the police revealed that the accused was in active connivance with their Pakistan-based handler.

Arrested operatives were involved in cross-border drug trafficking. Detailed examination of mobile phones has unearthed multiple communication trails and other incriminating digital evidence.

FIR has been registered at PS Gharinda under the NDPS Act. Further investigation is underway to trace forward and backward linkages of the network.
