Criminal Shot in Leg During Police Encounter in Amritsar

Amritsar: A shootout broke out between police and a criminal in the Ranjit Avenue area of ​​Amritsar. During the crossfire, the suspect was shot in the leg and injured. The victim was immediately taken to the hospital.

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. The police had taken Vikram, the criminal, for identification. He seized the opportunity and fired a shot, prompting the police to return fire, injuring him.

They had absconded after committing the robbery.

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the injured accused, Vikramjeet alias Vikram, had previously escaped after robbing a house in C-Block, Ranjit Avenue, on October 7th with his accomplices, posing as “enforcement agency officers.” Police arrested him on October 16th.

The search for companions continues

Commissioner Bhullar stated that several serious cases are already registered against the accused, including the Arms Act and the NDPS Act. Police have identified three of Vikram’s accomplices—Manjeet, Jatinder Sindhu, and one other. Special teams have been deployed to arrest them.

The Police Commissioner stated that the Punjab Police is pursuing a “zero tolerance” policy against organized crime and that any criminal, no matter where they are hiding, will be brought to justice. Police have currently recovered three weapons from the suspects and are investigating other robbery incidents.
