Amritsar: Roof Collapses at Under-Construction Gurdwara Langar Hall; 2 women killed, 5 injured

A major tragedy occurred on Sunday at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Baba Deep Singh Ji in Amritsar. Iron plates from the roof of the Langar Hall, which was currently under construction, snapped and crashed down upon women who were performing seva (voluntary service) inside the hall. As a result, two women died on the spot.

Meanwhile, five other women are reported to be critically injured. The injured women have been admitted to Sri Guru Ram Das Hospital.

Amritsar SP Amandeep Kaur, who visited the Guru Ram Das Charitable Hospital to assess the situation, stated that treatment is underway for everyone involved. She confirmed that all the women who sustained injuries are currently receiving medical care, and that all doctors are present inside the facility.

She added, “A large number of people had crowded into the hospital alongside the injured women, which was creating difficulties in administering treatment. Everyone has since been moved out of the premises; I have personally verified this myself. The doctors are currently attending to the injured and dressing their wounds.”
