Amritsar: Amritsar Rural Police has dismantled an alleged illegal arms and explosives supply network, apprehending one accused and recovering an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, live cartridges and two hand grenades.
According to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, the preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused was allegedly linked to foreign-based smugglers and was involved in procuring illegal weapons.

FIR Registered Under Arms and Explosives Laws
An FIR has been registered at Police Station Gharinda in Amritsar under relevant sections of the Arms Act and the Explosive Substances Act.
Police said further investigation is underway to identify other members of the network and establish its backward and forward linkages.
Probe Underway
The Punjab Police said it remains committed to maintaining strict vigil against illegal arms trafficking and organised criminal networks. The police also reiterated that firm action will be taken against those involved in the illegal supply of weapons and explosives.
