Amritsar Rural Police Crackdown: Two Arrested With Pistols, Opium and Heroin

Amritsar: Amritsar Rural Police has achieved a major success. A team from the Rural Special Cell has arrested two suspects and seized four pistols, 24 live cartridges, one kilogram of opium, and 25 grams of heroin. Police also recovered two mobile phones and a motorcycle from the suspects.

The arrested accused have been identified as Sukhraj Singh alias Joban, son of Avtar Singh, and Jaskaran Singh, son of Boota Singh, both residents of Jones Muhar village, Ajnala police station. According to police, both accused had been involved in drug trafficking and illegal arms supply for a long time.

Special Cell took action

Amritsar Rural Police Captain Suhail Mir said that the Special Cell team was checking vehicles by setting up a blockade near the newly constructed bridge near village Boparai Baj Singh.

Meanwhile, a motorcycle was seen coming from the village of Khurmania. When the police tried to stop it, the young men on the motorcycle tried to flee, but the police team took immediate action and apprehended both of them.

A case has been registered under various sections of the NDPS Act and the Arms Act.

In this regard, FIR No. 331 has been registered at Lopoke Police Station under various sections of the NDPS Act and the Arms Act. Police stated that a thorough investigation is underway to establish the accused’s forward and backward links, and strict legal action will be taken against any other suspects who emerge from the investigation.
