Amritsar: The traffic system in Amritsar city has completely collapsed these days. Illegal curbs and chaotic routes are leading to daily accidents. Local residents are deeply upset by this. In many areas, people have broken through dividers to create pathways, flouting traffic rules and endangering the lives of the public.
Engineer Pawan Sharma, a resident of Amritsar, has strongly protested this problem. He stood on Lawrence Road with posters to try to alert the authorities. He said, “I am a citizen of this city and witness these dangerous conditions every day. If immediate action is not taken, this problem could become even more deadly.”
Pawan Sharma explained that many areas of the city are rife with illegal curbs, with neither traffic police monitoring nor signage. Furthermore, safe and marked curbs have not been established at critical locations—such as schools, hospitals, and crowded intersections. This not only leads to accidents, but also makes it difficult for ambulances and security forces to arrive on time in case of emergencies.
India’s road network has expanded, but every three minutes, a life is lost in a road accident. Negligence, such as illegal curbs, is making the situation even more serious. Engineer Pawan Sharma has demanded that the administration immediately close illegal curbs and create safe curbs at appropriate locations to improve the city’s traffic system and save lives.
