Anand Marriage Act implemented in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar: Big news has come out regarding the Anand Marriage Act. Anand Marriage Act has now been implemented in Jammu and Kashmir too after the orders of LG Manoj Sinha. Implementation of the act T was a long-standing demand of the Sikhs living in Jammu and Kashmir, which has now been accepted and implemented. Now marriages in the Sikh community will be registered under Anand Marriage act

After the implementation of this law, people of Sikh community will be able to get their marriage registered. To issue the certificate under Anand Marriage Act, the concerned Tehsildar will be its Registrar. The Registrar shall issue two copies of the Certificate of Anand Marriage to the parties free of cost within fifteen days of the date of registration of marriage.

Let us tell you that there is a population of about six and a half lakh Sikh community in Jammu and Kashmir, out of which Sikh community is present in 105 villages in Kashmir, Poonch, Rajouri, Jammu, Kathua also have Sikh community population. Anand Marriage Law was already in force in the country but due to Article 370, it was not applicable in Jammu and Kashmir.

BJP prominent Sikh leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa has reacted on the implementation of the act. In a Video message he said,  “The Sikhs of Jammu and Kashmir had been demanding for a long time that Anand Marriage Act should be implemented in the state so that the Anand Karaj of Sikhs could be registered under this Act.
I heartily thank Home Minister Amit Shah ji and LG Manoj Singh ji that they have implemented Anand Marriage Act in Jammu and Kashmir.”
