Seven Killed as Private Bus Collides With Auto-Rickshaw in Andhra’s Palnadu

Amaravati: At least seven people, including six women, were killed and eight others injured when a private travel bus collided with an auto-rickshaw in Palnadu district of Andhra Pradesh in the early hours of Thursday, police said.

The accident occurred near Adda Road in Chilakaluripet when the private bus, travelling from Vijayawada to Tirupati, hit the three-wheeler.

Of the 15 people travelling in the auto-rickshaw, seven were killed and eight others, including four children, were injured. The injured have been shifted to Government General Hospital, Guntur, and Chilakaluripet Government Hospital.

Victims Returning From Birthday Party

According to police, the victims were residents of Veluru village in Chilakaluripet mandal. They were returning from a birthday party at Kondamanjulur in Prakasam district when the accident took place.

Four people died at the spot, while two succumbed to their injuries at GGH, Guntur, and one at Chilakaluripet Government Hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Bontu Babu, 62, Bontu Manemma, 55, Sampurnamma, 70, Gangamma, 50, Lakshmamma, 75, Choutupalli Swarthamma, 45, and Mariamma, 45.

CM Naidu Directs Officials to Ensure Best Care

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep shock over the horrific road accident.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that the deceased belonged to Veluru village in Chilakaluripet mandal and that critically injured persons had been shifted to Guntur General Hospital for treatment.

Naidu conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased and directed officials to ensure that the injured receive the best possible medical care. He also instructed officials to continuously monitor their health condition.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also expressed grief over the accident. He spoke with district officials and directed them to ensure the best medical treatment for those injured.

Home Minister Orders Probe Into Accident

Meanwhile, state Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha spoke to the Palnadu Additional SP regarding the accident in Chilakaluripet.

She sought details about the severity of the accident, the deceased and injured, as well as the status of relief operations.

Terming the loss of seven lives as deeply tragic, Anitha expressed condolences to the families of the victims.

She directed police officials to ensure proper medical care for the injured and continuously monitor their condition.

The Home Minister also ordered an investigation into all aspects of the incident, including the circumstances leading to the crash, the speed of the bus and any possible negligence by the driver.

Anitha further directed officials to pay special attention to enforcing road safety regulations for private vehicles to prevent such accidents in the future.
