Andhra Pradesh is planning ‘Work From Home’ in a big way, especially for women: CM Chandrababu Naidu

Amravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced that the state government is planning to implement a significant “Work From Home” initiative, particularly aimed at supporting women. In a post on X, he extended his greetings to women and girls in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, celebrating their achievements and committing to ensuring equal access to growth opportunities in these fields.

Naidu noted that the work environment has changed dramatically since the COVID-19 pandemic, with technology facilitating the rise of remote work. He emphasized that concepts like remote work, coworking spaces (CWS), and Neighbourhood Workspaces (NWS) can empower both businesses and employees to create flexible and productive work settings. He believes these initiatives will also promote a better work-life balance.

The Chief Minister mentioned that the Andhra Pradesh IT & GCC Policy 4.0 is a transformative step in this direction, offering incentives for developers to establish IT office spaces in every city, town, and mandal, while also supporting IT/GCC firms to create grassroots employment.

Naidu expressed confidence that these initiatives will enhance workforce participation, especially among women professionals, by providing flexible remote and hybrid work options. He previously stated that educated women should not limit themselves to being housewives and should have access to good employment opportunities.

In a recent release, CM Naidu instructed officials to provide proper training for educated women in rural and semi-urban areas of the state, aiming to create employment opportunities for them. He voiced concern about the number of educated women who remain at home, suggesting that proximity to work-from-home options could encourage their participation in the workforce. Naidu highlighted that women are capable and talented but often stay home due to family responsibilities. He concluded that providing suitable opportunities for these women would contribute to economic growth.
