Andhra Pradesh reports 12 COVID cases since June, 4 deaths; Health Department urges vigilance

New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh has reported 12 COVID-19 cases between June 26 and July 16, with four patients dying. Health Commissioner G. Veerapandian stated that the deceased had pre-existing health conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney disease, and other serious health problems.

Kadapa has the highest number of cases

The state’s first COVID case of 2026 was reported in Kadapa district on June 26. Following this, 11 more infections were detected. Kadapa reported the highest number of cases with 8, followed by Guntur with 2, and Visakhapatnam and Kakinada with 1 each. The Health Department clarified that these cases were from different divisions and were not linked to any single cluster.

Some patients are undergoing treatment, many have recovered

Of the infected, three are in home isolation, two are undergoing treatment in a hospital, and three have recovered and been discharged. According to the department, two people contracted the infection through close contact with infected individuals.

Limited number of COVID cases nationwide

Between June 26 and July 15, 67 COVID tests were conducted in Andhra Pradesh, of which 11 were positive. The 12th case was detected during testing at the Christian Medical College (CMC) in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. A total of 339 COVID cases have been reported nationwide since July 1. Of these, the highest number of 115 cases have been reported in Kerala, 64 in Karnataka, 43 in Maharashtra, 39 in Tamil Nadu, 18 each in Delhi and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and 12 in Rajasthan.
