Kharar AAP MLA Anmol Gagan Maan’s Husband Sentenced to Two Years in Jail in 2018 Cheque Bounce Case

Mohali/Dera Bassi: A court in Dera Bassi has sentenced three partners of M/S Platinum Smart Buildcon LLP, including Shahbaz Singh Sohi  the husband of Punjab AAP MLA Anmol Gagan Maan from Kharar to two years’ imprisonment each in a cheque bounce case dating back to 2018.

The court also imposed a fine of ₹10,000 on each of the convicts. However, all three were granted bail immediately after the sentencing.

The convicted individuals are: Shahbaz Singh Sohi (resident of Sector 3, Mohali), Nachhatar Singh (resident of Naraingarh) and Jatinder Singh (resident of Zirakpur).

The case was registered under Section 138/142 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, along with Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code.

According to the complainant, Kamaljit Singh (a resident of Sector 21, Panchkula), the firm had agreed to sell plots in the Silver City project in Rajpura. When the deal did not materialise, the accused issued a cheque for ₹3.5 crore to settle the matter, but it was dishonoured upon presentation for encashment.

Anmol Gagan Maan, who was serving as a Punjab Cabinet Minister at the time, married advocate Shahbaz Singh Sohi on June 16, 2024. The judgment was delivered on March 17, 2026, by the Dera Bassi court. The convicts can appeal the decision in a higher court.
