New Case of Enforced Disappearance in Balochistan

New Delhi: A prominent human rights organization has reported another case of enforced disappearance amid escalating violence against civilians in Balochistan, raising concerns about human rights abuses in the region.

Baloch youth allegedly abducted by security forces

Condemning the incident, the Baloch National Movement’s human rights department, Pank, reported that Umar Baloch was forcibly abducted from his home in the Mand Koh area of ​​Kech district on Thursday.

Arrested without warrant, whereabouts unknown

Citing local sources, Pank alleged that Pakistan Army personnel entered Umar’s home at night and abducted him without a warrant. Authorities have not yet released his whereabouts.

Rights organization demands immediate release

Pank demanded the immediate disclosure of Umar Baloch’s whereabouts, his unconditional release, and his presentation before a competent court. The organization stated, “We appeal to national and international human rights organizations to pay attention to this case and hold the responsible officials accountable for violations of human rights and international law.”

Increasing Cases of Enforced Disappearances

On the same day, another human rights organization, Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ), strongly criticized the incidents of enforced disappearances in Balochistan and other areas. The organization called them “serious violations of human rights” and alleged that they appear to be part of a systematic policy of repression against the Baloch people.

Recent Reports of Five Civilians Disappearing

BVJ reported that five civilians were recently forcibly disappeared by security forces in Balochistan. The organization appealed to the international community, human rights organizations, and Pakistani courts to take note of these incidents, hold those responsible accountable, and secure the immediate release of all missing persons.

Case of alleged execution/unlawful killing in the past

Pank also condemned the alleged extrajudicial killing of another Baloch national, Zareef Baloch, in Awaran district, Balochistan, on Wednesday.

Body recovered after several months

According to the rights organization, Zareef’s bullet-ridden body was recovered from the Nondara area on January 6, after he had been missing for more than three months. Pank reported that Zareef, a resident of Siahkal in the Malar area of ​​Awaran, was allegedly abducted from his home by security forces on September 29, 2025.

Demands accountability under international law

Pank blamed Pakistani security forces for serious crimes, calling it part of an ongoing trend of enforced disappearances and deaths in custody in Balochistan. The organization said, “Such acts constitute a serious violation of international human rights law, including the right to life and the prohibition of enforced disappearances.”
