Anupama Parameswaran’s ‘Lockdown’ release pushed back once more!

Chennai: The makers of director A.R. Jeeva’s gripping drama Lockdown, starring Anupama Parameswaran, have once again postponed the film’s release “due to unforeseen circumstances”.

Lyca Productions announced on X:
“#Lockdown has been postponed. The new release date will be shared soon. #LockdownInCinemasSoon.”

The team added that they “sincerely regret any inconvenience caused” and are committed to ensuring the film reaches audiences in the best possible conditions.

Second Delay in Two Weeks

This marks the second postponement within a span of two weeks. The film was first scheduled for release on December 5 but was pushed due to heavy rains lashing Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu following the remnants of Cyclone Ditwah.

At the time, Lyca Productions had said audience safety was the priority amid the severe weather conditions.

After the rains subsided, the makers announced a new release date of December 12. However, the film has now been delayed yet again citing “unforeseen circumstances”.

Story Rooted in Reality

The Censor Board has cleared the film with a U/A certificate.
Lockdown, a woman-centric film based on a true story, has already generated strong buzz.

The trailer shows Anupama Parameswaran as Anitha, a young woman scared to return home and battling a hidden crisis. As India enters a 21-day nationwide lockdown during COVID-19, Anitha’s fears intensify, her behaviour worries her parents, and she desperately tries to contact a doctor while seeking money from friends.

The trailer ends with an emotional note as Anitha apologises to her father.

Produced by Subaskaran of Lyca Productions, the film features Anupama Parameswaran alongside Charlie, Nirosha, Priya Venkat, Livingston, Indhumathi, Rajkumar, Shamji, Lollu Sabha Maran, Vinayak Raj, Vidhu, Abhirami, Ravathi, Sanjivie, Priya Ganesh and Asha, among others.

Music is by NR Raghunanthan and Siddharth Vipin, cinematography by K.A. Sakthivel, editing by V.J. Sabu Joseph, and art direction by A. Jayakumar.
Choreography is handled by Sherif and Sri Girish, stunts by Om Sivaprakash, and costumes by Meenakshi Shreedharan.
