Apple-laden truck breaks down in Rampur; traffic disrupts

In Rampur, Shimla district, an apple-laden truck suddenly broke down near Pipti on the Rampur Racholi road at 8 a.m. on Wednesday. This caused long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road, disrupting traffic. This road serves as a major route for thousands of people from seven panchayats.

School and office-goers faced significant difficulties due to the truck’s blockage. Many school vehicles and private vehicles were stuck in the traffic jam for hours, making it difficult for them to reach their destination on time. Responding to the situation, Public Works Department (PWD) personnel arrived at the scene and began relief work.

PWD created a temporary road

The department created a temporary road for small vehicles by cutting soil from the roadside, which allowed for some smooth traffic movement. However, the situation for larger vehicles has not yet returned to normal. Due to the limited space, trucks and buses are unable to pass through, forcing them to wait.

Currently, people are forced to travel by small vehicles or walk the approximately two-kilometer distance to reach Rampur. Due to a truck breakdown at Pipti Pass, all heavy vehicles are still stranded on both sides of the road. Drivers and passengers are waiting for the truck to be repaired so that the road can be cleared and traffic can return to normal.
