AQI in Delhi falls under ‘poor’ category; artificial rain on Oct 29

Air pollution levels in the capital Delhi, remain alarming. According to data released by the Central Pollution Control Board on Friday morning, the Anand Vihar area recorded an air quality index of 403, which falls in the “severe” category. This situation is extremely harmful not only for Delhi residents but especially for children, the elderly, and those suffering from respiratory diseases.

Apart from Anand Vihar, air quality in other major areas of the city also remained in the “poor” to “very poor” category. The ITO area recorded an AQI of 316. The AQI in and around India Gate was 254, and Dhaula Kuan recorded 257.

Delhi’s air will remain poor until October 27th
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has predicted that the air quality will remain in the “very poor” category until Monday. Due to this, respiratory patients may face difficulties. People may also experience eye irritation. On Thursday, the estimated maximum mixing depth was 2650 meters. The ventilation index was 14500 meters per square second. According to the CPCB, wind speeds have increased over the past 24 hours. On Thursday, winds were blowing from the northwest at 10-15 kilometers per hour.

Weather conditions in Delhi may change from Monday
According to the Meteorological Department, a new western disturbance may affect the western Himalayan region from October 27th. There is no update on the impact of this western disturbance on Delhi-NCR. However, before that, very light clouds may be seen in Delhi on October 26th. Rain is not expected this week. Therefore, hopes are for a new western disturbance arriving from October 27th.

On the other hand, if we talk about cities in the NCR other than Delhi, the air quality is not too bad. But there is no relief either. Today, Friday, the AQI has reached 208 in Ghaziabad’s Sanjay Nagar, 170 in Noida Sector 1, and 175 in Sector 125. Noida has moved from Red to Orange zone. Yesterday, the pollution AQI decreased from 300. Whereas AQI of Greater Noida has been recorded at 180. Faridabad’s AQI was around 200 at 7 am. 230 AQI has been recorded in NIT, 166 in Sector 30, 109 in Ballabhgarh. The air quality monitoring machine of Sector-11 and Sector 16,A located in the Faridabad area is not showing pollution data.
