Army truck runs over 5th-grade student in Jalandhar Cantt

A Class 5 student died after being struck by an Army truck outside her school in Jalandhar Cantt. She was waiting for a bus outside the school with her friends when an Army truck arrived, and the driver attempted a U-turn.

During this maneuver, the student was hit by the truck; a wheel ran over her head, causing her death on the spot. The deceased has been identified as Payal, a resident of Sodhal. Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene and took possession of the body.

According to reports, the accident occurred in the afternoon outside Kendriya Vidyalaya-3 (KV-3) in Jalandhar Cantt. After school hours, a bus from KV-4 had arrived outside KV-3 to pick up students. At that time, Payal, a Class 5 student, was waiting for the bus along with her friends.

As school had just ended, there was a usual flow of children in the area. Meanwhile, an Army truck approached the school. Eyewitnesses stated that the truck driver began taking a U-turn to turn the vehicle around. It was during this process that Payal was struck by the truck.

Head Crushed as Wheel Ran Over It

The truck’s wheel ran over her head, crushing it and causing her death instantly. Panic ensued among the people present at the scene following the accident. Upon learning of the incident, the school bus driver immediately informed the school management and the student’s father, Ashok Kumar. Her father rushed to the spot upon hearing the news of the accident; he was inconsolable upon seeing his daughter’s body.

Police Investigating the Matter

Upon receiving the information, the Cantt police arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The police stated that statements from eyewitnesses are being recorded, and further legal action will be taken following an investigation into the matter.
