Ashok Gehlot demands high-level committee to probe rising cardiac arrest deaths among youth

Jaipur: Congress leader Ashok Gehlot has urged the government to form a high-level scientific committee to investigate the increasing cases of sudden cardiac arrests and deaths among young people and children in Rajasthan.

Alarming Trend Among Youth and Children

Gehlot cited concerns raised in the Assembly by Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully and other MLAs. He warned that the sudden deaths of seemingly healthy individuals, including doctors, are creating fear and suspicion in society.

Gehlot referred to global discussions on rare vaccine side effects, like thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS) linked to AstraZeneca’s Covishield, and stressed that although ICMR reports found no direct link, research on  Long COVID and vaccine effects on the cardiovascular system is ongoing worldwide.

Government Accountability and Post-COVID Centre

Gehlot reminded that a post-COVID rehabilitation centre was announced at RUHS in 2023 for research on post-COVID health complications, but he expressed regret that the current government has not operationalised it.

He urged the government to rise above politics, ensure transparency, and conduct a scientific investigation to determine the real causes of these deaths to prevent future loss of lives.

Jully Demands Answers

Jully highlighted that deaths after vaccination have reportedly increased, with even children collapsing during exams. He alleged that the government is avoiding accountability, concealing facts, and misleading people, and demanded proper explanations and reforms.
