Asia Cup 2025: IND defeated PAK with extreme ease

September 14, 2025

Dubai: India produced a dominant all-round performance to notch up its second-biggest T20I victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 clash at Dubai on Sunday. The Men in Blue coasted to a comfortable seven-wicket triumph with 25 balls still left in the innings, underlining their supremacy in Group A.

This win narrowly missed India’s record for the biggest margin (by balls remaining) against Pakistan, set in 2016, when the side wrapped up the chase with 27 deliveries in hand.

After being put in to bowl, India’s attack delivered a clinical performance to restrict Pakistan to just 127 for nine. Wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav led the charge, claiming three key wickets to derail Pakistan’s middle order. He was well supported by Axar Patel and Varun Chakaravarthy, who picked up two wickets each, ensuring Pakistan never found momentum.

Chasing a modest target, India got off to a flying start through opener Abhishek Sharma. The youngster smashed a blistering 31 off just 13 balls, putting Pakistan on the back foot early. His knock set the tone for the chase before Suryakumar Yadav played a steady hand, guiding the team home without any late drama.

With this emphatic win, India secured its second consecutive victory in the tournament, strengthening its position in Group A and sending a strong message ahead of the knockout stage.
