Assam Rifles Rescue Two Abducted Labourers from NSCN-K Cadres in Arunachal Pradesh

New Delhi: In a swift and coordinated operation, the Assam Rifles, under the command of the Army’s Spear Corps, successfully rescued two abducted labourers from the custody of NSCN-K faction cadres in Tirap district, Arunachal Pradesh, defence officials confirmed on Sunday.

Abduction at Construction Site

The incident occurred on Saturday when armed members of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (NSCN-K) abducted two labourers from a construction site in Laho village, located in the Dadam circle of Tirap district.

Intelligence-Led Rescue Operation

Acting on specific intelligence, Assam Rifles units launched a search and rescue mission in the Nianu area to locate the victims and apprehend the insurgents.

“Acting on specific intelligence, Assam Rifles columns were swiftly mobilised and launched a well-coordinated search and rescue operation,” said Ministry of Defence officials.

Exchange of Fire and Tactical Response

During the operation, insurgents opened indiscriminate fire on the advancing security forces.

“Demonstrating utmost professionalism and restraint, the troops retaliated in a controlled manner to prevent any collateral damage and ensure the safety of the abducted civilians,” an official stated.

The measured response led to the safe rescue of both labourers, with no harm reported. The operation also prevented further subversive actions by the NSCN-K faction in the region.

The rescued individuals are being transported to Khonsa for medical evaluation and assistance. Meanwhile, search and sanitisation operations continue in the area to ensure security.

NSCN-K Ban Extended

The Union Government had extended the ban on NSCN-K and its affiliated wings for five more years last month, citing activities that threaten India’s sovereignty and integrity. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the group aims to establish a sovereign Nagaland by seceding from India and has aligned itself with other outlawed outfits like ULFA-I.
