Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday ordered an investigation into the events in the Assembly and alleged objectionable remarks made by BRS leaders against Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar. IPS officer Vijay Kumar will lead the investigation.
20 BRS members suspended
As soon as the Assembly proceedings began on Wednesday, members of the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) created a ruckus. Several members stormed the Speaker’s chair and shouted “We want justice.”
Subsequently, Speaker G. Prasad Kumar suspended 20 BRS members for the entire session, following a motion moved by Legislative Affairs Minister D. Sridhar Babu.
Several prominent leaders suspended
Among the suspended members were BRS Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao, K.T. Rama Rao, G. Several prominent leaders are involved, including Jagadeeswar Reddy, P. Kaushik Reddy, and P. Sabita Indra Reddy.
This action follows the suspension of two BRS MLCs—Tata Madhusudan and Naveen Kumar Reddy—a day earlier.
Incidents since September 6th to be investigated
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that IPS officer Vijay Kumar will investigate the incidents since September 6th and the conspiracy behind the alleged objectionable remarks against the Speaker.
Following the announcement of the investigation, the Speaker adjourned the Assembly proceedings. The House will now resume at 10 am on September 10th.
