3 Assistant Professors Terminated in Himachal Sexual Harassment Case

Himachal Pradesh: The Education Department has dismissed three assistant professors from service after a departmental inquiry found them guilty of sexually harassing female students. Officials confirmed this on Thursday.

    Names of Dismissed Teachers
The dismissed teachers include Virendra Sharma (Assistant Professor, Mathematics), Anil Kumar (Assistant Professor, Chemistry, Siddharth Government College, Hamirpur), and Pawan Kumar (Professor of Dance – Kathak, Jawaharlal Nehru Government College of Fine Arts, Shimla).

The order issued by Education Secretary Rakesh Kanwar on April 16 stated that the allegations amounted to “serious moral turpitude and gross misconduct.”

Serious allegations proved in the investigation
According to the department, the explanations given by the accused could not refute or diminish the seriousness of the evidence presented in the investigation.

The order stated that the teacher-student relationship is based on trust, dignity, and a safe educational environment, and such acts undermine institutional discipline and public trust.

Different allegations in all three cases
The investigation revealed different serious allegations against the three teachers.

Virendra Sharma is accused of inappropriate behavior and attempted rape with a female student.

Anil Kumar was found guilty of molesting a female student during a practical class and absconding to avoid investigation.

Allegations against Pawan Kumar of inviting female students to his home late at night for dance practice, wrongful detention, and other administrative irregularities were proven.

Officials confirmed that all three teachers have been dismissed from service with immediate effect.
