Attack on BJP Leader in Vrindavan by seven assailants; Bullet recovered from chest

In connection with the shooting of BJP leader Pammi Goswami in Vrindavan, the police have registered an FIR against seven assailants. He is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. Doctors have successfully performed surgery to extract the bullet. A .32 caliber bullet was recovered from his chest. Police teams from two different stations have been mobilized to search for the attackers.

Pramendra Goswami alias Pammi, a resident of Vyas Ghera in the Vankhandi area, serves as the BJP’s City General Secretary. Late Thursday night, while riding his scooter, he was returning home to Vyas Ghera from a relative’s property office located in Panigaon.

On the new bridge in Panigaon, he was surrounded by half a dozen assailants riding motorcycles. After verbally abusing him, the attackers physically assaulted the BJP leader and then shot him. The bullet struck him on the right side of his chest. Upon being shot, he collapsed to the ground, and the assailants fled the scene.

Upon receiving the information, his family members, including his cousin, Anmol Goswami, rushed to the spot and transported him to the District Joint Hospital. After receiving preliminary treatment there, his family admitted him to SIMS Hospital. Meanwhile, CO (Sadar) Pritam Pal Singh, along with police personnel from the Vrindavan and Yamuna Paar police stations, arrived at the scene.

They took possession of the BJP leader’s scooter and intensified their search for the attackers. The presence of carbon residue found on his chest suggests that the shot was fired from very close range, specifically, the bullet penetrated his chest and became lodged inside, leaving carbon traces on the exterior.

On Friday afternoon, the injured Pramendra Goswami’s younger brother, Dayal Krishna Goswami, lodged an FIR against the seven assailants at the Vrindavan police station. Although the crime scene located on the new bridge in Panigaon falls under the jurisdiction of the Yamuna Paar police station, the FIR was registered at the Vrindavan police station in accordance with the directives of the CO (Sadar).
