    Attack on Former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah Was Premeditated; Charge Sheet Filed

    The police have filed a chargesheet in court regarding the firing incident involving former Chief Minister and National Conference President, Dr. Farooq Abdullah. The investigating agency has included CCTV footage, forensic reports, witness statements, and the seized weapon as key evidence. The accused in the case, Kamal Singh Jamwal, is currently lodged in the District Jail, Ambphalla.

    The chargesheet alleges that the accused arrived at the wedding ceremony carrying a loaded revolver and was waiting for an opportune moment with the intention of targeting Dr. Farooq Abdullah. The incident was premeditated, and the accused had arrived at the ceremony with prior preparation.

    The chargesheet also notes that the accused harbored resentment against Dr. Farooq Abdullah and held him responsible for issues concerning Kashmiri migrants and their properties. Following the completion of the investigation, the police have submitted their final report to the court. The case will now proceed to further hearings in court.

    The case pertains to an incident of firing at Dr. Farooq Abdullah during a wedding ceremony on March 11, 2026. According to the investigation, security personnel present at the scene apprehended the accused and disarmed him. A case was registered at the Gangyal Police Station following the incident. Subsequently, the investigation was handed over to a Special Investigation Team (SIT).

    During the course of the investigation, the police seized various items, including the weapon, cartridges, a mobile phone, CCTV footage, and DVR data. According to the investigating agency, the seized material was sent to forensic laboratories for ballistic, handwriting, and electronic analysis. The chargesheet also incorporates the CFSL report and other scientific evidence.
