Axar Patel Wins ‘Impact Player Of Series’ Award As India Complete 3-0 T20I Sweep Against Afghanistan

New Delhi: India all-rounder Axar Patel was named the ‘Impact Player of the Series’ after India completed a 3-0 T20I series sweep against Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Head physio Kamlesh Jain presented Axar with the award in the dressing room following India’s 127-run victory in the third and final T20I.

Axar Patel Makes Impact With Four Wickets

Axar played an important role throughout the series with economical spells that helped India maintain pressure on Afghanistan. He claimed four wickets across the three matches, including an impressive spell of 2-9 in three overs in the final game.

While presenting the award, Jain praised Axar for consistently performing his role for the team, including bowling crucial overs during the powerplay and contributing in the field.

Jain also highlighted Axar’s commitment to the team’s philosophy of putting the team ahead of individual performances.

Axar Praises Team Effort Ahead Of Asian Games

After receiving the award, Axar credited the entire team for its performance across the three matches and said he was proud of the way the side had performed in recent series.

He urged the players to maintain the same atmosphere and momentum going into their next assignment — the men’s T20 event at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

Axar said continued success would help the team move forward as a unit and stressed the importance of maintaining the positive environment within the squad.

Gambhir Tells Team To Shift Focus To Asian Games

Head coach Gautam Gambhir, who will not travel for the Asian Games, also addressed the players after the series victory.

Gambhir congratulated the team and asked the players to put the Afghanistan series behind them and immediately shift their focus to the Asian Games.

India are the current gold medallists in men’s T20 cricket at the Asian Games.
