Baghpat: Four people were killed and several others injured after a bus carrying around 32 pilgrims overturned after hitting a divider on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district, officials said.
The accident occurred late Sunday night near the Badagaon cut when the bus was returning from Bangar in Rajasthan, according to police.
Superintendent of Police Kumar Rai said the accident took place at around 12:30 am. Police received information through the 112 emergency service that a vehicle carrying passengers from Rajasthan towards Badaun had overturned after hitting a divider.

Around 32 people were travelling in the bus when the accident occurred, and several passengers sustained serious injuries.
Bus hits divider and overturns in Baghpat
According to police, the bus was travelling from Rajasthan towards Badaun when it hit a divider on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and overturned.
After receiving information about the accident, four Police Response Vehicle (PRV) units, ambulances and local police personnel immediately reached the spot.
Rescue teams pulled the injured passengers out of the overturned bus and shifted them to nearby medical facilities.
The accident caused multiple passengers to suffer serious injuries, with some requiring further medical treatment at higher-level healthcare facilities.
Four killed, injured passengers shifted to hospitals
Baghpat District Magistrate Asmita Lal confirmed that four people died in the accident.
She said the vehicle overturned in the serious road accident, leaving several people seriously injured. All the victims were rescued and taken to the nearby Community Health Centre (CHC) and district hospital for treatment.
Police said some of the passengers who suffered critical injuries were referred to higher medical centres for advanced treatment.
Authorities continued to assess the condition of the injured passengers and the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The emergency response began soon after authorities received information about the overturned bus.
Police personnel, PRV units and ambulances reached the accident site and helped rescue passengers trapped in the vehicle.
The exact circumstances that led to the bus hitting the divider and overturning are being examined by authorities.
The Baghpat accident comes amid several serious road crashes reported across India in recent days, including a fatal accident in Kerala in which eight people were killed after a car collided with a parked lorry in Thrissur district.
Police and other emergency personnel responded to that accident as well, while authorities continued investigations into the circumstances of the crash.
